After 5 weddings in 3 weeks between the end of September and the beginning of October, I thought it might be nice to take a little vacation. Loretta and I went up to Vancouver to hang with my father and step-mother. We chilled at their place on the West side of the City and then drove/ ferried up to Pender Harbor where we stayed at the Painted Boat. We ended up doing a lot of hanging out and playing bananagrams (a totally fun word game). Oh, yeah, we are some serious party animals. It was a nice break from the craziness at home. Here are some pictures for your viewing pleasure. Enjoy!

Loretta is a wild animal some times. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.

Hey – it’s me with a funny mustache.

Facebook is good for more than funny little games that tell you about yourself and checking out pictures of people you don’t know.
Thanks to Facebook, I was reconnected with an old high school friend of mine, Leah Murphy, who is living in the UK with her husband and super cute kid. And, as luck would have it, her family decided to have me come out and do a family shoot while she was in town for a visit.
We met at her parents place in Marin County – in the San Rafael / Peacock Gap area, and cruised over to China Camp for a little fresh air and pictures with the fam. If you haven’t been to China Camp, do yourself a favor and check it out. It is totally neat. Okay, here are some pictures. Enjoy!

Theresa and Clark – super awesome couple. We had a great adventure on their engagement shoot. T&C are honeymooning in Argentina – and I am sure they are livin’ it up. I love the purple theme they had going on… although I wish someone would have sent me the memo. Their wedding was a totally sweet end to my wedding season this year. The Reinhart Alumnae House on Mill’s College Campus where the wedding and reception were held is a really nice little spot. Some images. Enjoy!

It has been a totally fun and exciting year of weddings for me. I love that while there have been similarities here and there, each wedding I have shot has been unique and different. People bring their own special touches and find ways to reinvent old traditions. Garter toss – out. Cupcakes in. My favorite desert was the medley of many different cakes and pies. Mmmm. With similarities and differences, most of all what makes each wedding unique is the individual people who attend and bring their love and energy to the event. It is so cool being able to photograph, document, and make art of these magnificent and heartfelt moments in people’s lives. Thank you folks!
Now I am going to gush a little bit about Hannah and Jared’s wedding at City Hall, in San Francisco. They wanted a small little thing. Thought that they would just slip over to City Hall and tie the knot. Well, family found out, and one thing led to another. They put a cap on things. Uncles were banned, and there was joking during the day about relatives dressed as bushes and pillars so that they could sneak a peak. But as they wished, it was immediate family only.
This was the first real wedding that I have shot at City Hall. And, it was so neat seeing all the other couples getting married there. One couldn’t help but feel real sense of community. And, it struck me, that people were really each getting hitched in their own unique ways. After the amazing ceremony – simple can be great – we found a little spot and took family pictures. Let me just say – the lighting in City Hall made for some awesome photography. And the architecture – stunning.
After the ceremony we all hopped on a trolly car and headed to the Ferry Building where Hannah, Jared and family had reservations at the Slanted Door. We walked around a bit and bumped into a friend of theirs who was waiting to meet a craigslister to sell her bike to. It was fun to be reminded how small the City is. I had a wonderful, wonderful day with Hannah, Jared, and their families. Here are some pictures. Enjoy!
